Any other Ruggers out there?

I am looking at you all across the pond...

My first cup match of the season is tomorrow. I am in my twilight years of playing rugby, but I am not ready to give it up just yet...

I do love watching rugby. The constant game makes it much better than watching baseball or american football.

It is slowly catching on here. American Football evolved from rugby, I wonder why rugby itself never took hold here.

The same reason why the first testicular guard (“box”) was used in cricket in 1874 while the first helmet was used in 1974.

So, it took 100 years for men to realize that their brains were also worth protecting.

Because it wasn't American. It's based on rugby and uses the name football... Assimilating two other sports.

Then again, basketball was invented by a Canadian so that's something.

I'm on the left. I was a prop.

Very nice! I bet that was a tackle that shook the ground. Rugby and a hockey fan? You would do well in Saint Louis!

Unless you have played as a prop, you just don't get it. I have filled in as needed and that was enough!

Fivehole is from when I was shot in the ass during combat in Afghanistan. In the right cheek, out the crack into the left cheek and out my thigh... Hence, Five(ass)hole Craig, or bagpipes if you prefer.

Thanks Honig, we are 2 wins and 1 tie so far. I made my tackles and have yet to give up the ball so I consider that a win!

Well, you should all be proud to know I was awarded "Man of the Match" last weekend. Sure it was an Old Boys match and I was on the young side of 'old boy'.

It was a great time, just a bunch experienced beer drinkers going out and having a good time. Of course we had the obligatory hot head that got kicked out for a bit (sin bin), and he is the coach of the hosting team, but no blood was lost in anger.
